Horse breeds are group of horses with some distinct characters. In horse breeding, these distinct characters are inherited in their offspring. Some typical characteristics that are considered while defining horse breed are color, facade, conformation, performance ability, toughness. Horse breeds can be categorized based on racing horse, horse with specific color and leisurely galloping horse.

Ocala Florida, which was established in 1846, is the seat of Marion County, in Florida. It is well known as the horse capital of the world. Although thoroughbred horse breeding and racing is one of the primary sources of revenue in the area, it is not surprising that when the economic downturn began, Ocala, would not escape the crunch the rest of the nation was feeling.

As unemployment continues to rise nationwide, an industry centered on leisure and entertainment, such as horse breeding and racing, tends to feel the crunch perhaps more than industries that are more related to basic survival. In fact, in this recession, even food related industries are being impacted.

Due to this large number of farms, there are around 44,000 jobs in and around Ocala that relate to this industry, including positions in breeding, training, and other equine support. Overall, a large percentage of the town thrives on the horses, whether it is in breeding and maintenance or finding ways to connect the industry to interested tourists.

However, horse racing and Breeding Industry somehow benefits other people. State and Local Government received millions from taxes on wagers and fee to fund for some programs within their place like civic centers, veterans rehabilitation, soil and water conservation survey and agricultural extension clubs.

The Jockey Club of England was established due to the movement initiated by the elite of horse racing. This then became the overseer of racetracks, races, standards for horse breeds, and event rules and regulations. In short, they formalized the sport, as we know of today during 1750s. The Jockey Club was also responsible for the early determination of breeding lines of the horses.

Curly breeders and associations are still working on defining the breed standard and implementing a breeding program based on this standard, in order that curly horses can be bred towards a standard type (one of the requirements for being recognized as an official breed).
