AeroThrust signed a $100 million Global Service Partners
(GSP) part replacement and repair agreement with Pratt & Whitney, a United
Technologies Corp. company. The five-year agreement states that Pratt &
Whitney will provide JT8D turbine airfoil repairs as well as replacement parts
for AeroThrust. Prior to this recent agreement, the two had an agreement for
JT8D part repairs which expired in March. The new agreement, therefore, renews
and extends the existing agreement.
According to Jose Leon, the Senior Vice President of
AeroThrust, they were looking for JT8D part repairs and scrap replacement
parts. Fortunately, Pratt & Whitney offered Original Equipment Manufacturer
(OEM) value at a competitive price for part repairs as well as for both new and
used materials.
Jim Keenan, the Senior Vice President and General Manager
of Pratt & Whitney Global Service Partners, said that Pratt & Whitney's
on of a kind OEM parts and maintenance, repair and overhaul
(MRO) offerings, 24/7 help center and performance were the major factors to
winning the said agreement. He added that they, too, are looking forward to a
continued and broadened relationship with their partner.
