People everywhere see the glamorized version of a work from home business; lavish vacations, cruises and making fat loot while roaming around in their underwear. While these visions may be true to a small degree, probably with less than 1% of the people that indeed work from home full time actually experience these results; these exceedingly rich lifestyles are often reserved only for the ones peddling their “get rich quick” schemes on the ignorant masses.
Working from home is supposed to bring freedom, and ultimately more money than an hourly job could conceivably provide. The cold, hard truth is that many full time, work from home moms and dads probably put in more hours running a work from home business with significantly less money than they could make at a “regular” job, if considering their pay based on the number of hours worked. This doesn’t mean that a work from home business that brings in enough income to pay the bills isn’t worth it by any means; there is a big draw to being able to provide for your family while being your own boss.
The biggest benefit for work at home moms and dads is freedom. Freedom to do with their time what they want to do, not what someone else tells them to do. If you’ve never experienced this, it’s something that once you’ve tasted it; you don’t often want to ever lose it.
Think about it – if you have a spouse or children, you can take time off work whenever you want to; run to the park, go camping, go on a vacation; you have the unique ability to dictate what you do with your time, you don’t have to ask for time off work and you don’t have to painfully explain to your child why you don’t have the time available to spend with your child because “daddy and mommy have to go to work”. It’s a sad reality that many moms and dads miss out on the most important part of their children’s lives because the “have to go to work”. It really is sad, and unfortunately it happens all the time to people who really would love to be able to spend more time with their spouse or children.
In the end, a home based business may be more hours for less pay hourly than a “normal job”, but the benefit of having freedom with your time is more than worth it. Just ask your loved ones what they think.
