Your families satellite media health

I love to be able to have many choices for the media content I and my family watch. But there is such a thing as "one head, one life and only two eyes" which makes 500+ channels of TV a little too much overwhelm even for my eclectic interest. So what is best to do? Have you ever sat with a very retro blank white piece of paper and in my case an even more retro #2 pencil (yes they still exist) and like in weight watchers list all the TV programs and time spent watching them you really do? I don't recommend it can get VERY ugly! But being curious by nature and a little masochistic I did. What I found surprised me. I actually only consume (as I work an 8 to 5 job for a living) 22-26 hours of TV a week! I WAS VERY PROUD OF MYSELF! And I have 500+ TV channels available to me through my satellite home theatre TV. Discipline rules in my family. Now most of this time is spent watching movies about 3-4 a week and 'escaping from the world' with the rest filled with science type i.e. Discovery or History channel type stuff. I like my family to invite through our satellite home theatre system to open and sharpen their minds! This very cool technology can be a most useful tool if used well . I do not allow CNN, NBC, CBS, FOX or any type of news as this is EVERYWHERE now, not in the least educational and I view as detrimental as we have zero control over what is happening and prefer NOT to live our lives in a perpetual state of reacting to that which we cannot control (isn't this a prescription for unhappiness as described by Huxley in Brave New World? It seems to me that our tools i.e. in this case satellite home theatre systems are best used with a great deal of discretion and discrimination. And if not just add to the larger cultural madness of the citizenry. Only a fool or madman would allow some of them world's horror story into their cave (LIVING ROOM) for their children to endure! So what do you do to enrich your life with your satellite home theatre system? What have you cut out and what do you allow. You still have the choice you know. Though there are certain forces which would just as soon cyber-jack your brain and put you on a 24 hour CNN or war or famine (panic and stress for panic and stress sake) take over feed. Why? Because a free and clear and "LOVING" (one who can think is a danger to the "system!" The "system" in this case is the 19 year old kid who has been saturated with the garbage "YOU ARE PATRIOTC IF YOUGO TO THE NEXT WAR." Any war can be filled in here. I know from where I speak because one of my day jobs is as a school bus driver and these kids are half walking zombies who have never had a n original let alone political thought in their life and half of them without any study skills at all will suddenly find themselves in their senior year sick of school with zero interest (or ability) to go to school and end up in Iraq, well…. soon to be Iran . Our kids (except mine) ARE HYPNOTIZED ZOMBIES! So please use your satellite home theatre system TV to bring the great and good and beautiful world too your family. Life has enough scars without bringing them into your home. Use some common (in these days not so common) sense to improve your life and not take away from it. I promise you and your family will remember maybe with a laugh about all the wonderful people and places your satellite home theatre system TV brought to you. All the best…… Scott Douglas http://www.virtualrealestate-wealth-4ever.com /Satellite Home Theatre TV's/SatOutPut/index.php
