Simple Tips To Carpet Success * About me I have been fitting carpet for 10 years now. In that time I have worked for different carpet companies. I started out by working for my local carpet retailer when I was 14 years old. I started working 3 day per week in the shop helping out doing some of the heavy lifting the owner was unable to do any more. After about 2 months started to help one of the fitters, so I was working Monday, Wednesday and Friday in the shop. Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday learning the fitting trade as. I did this for 3 years, after that time I was a fully qualified carpet fitter and a salesman for the shop. * About this article In this article I will hopefully give you the knowledge to go out and buy the carpet you want without been ripped off by the carpet companies. * Free fitting and underlay This is one of the most effective ways of getting you into the shops and if you have not heard of this then you must be living on mars. Let me tell you now don’t believe a single word of this, carpet fitters are all sub contractors, you might find a shop that actually employs a carpet fitter, but in both cases they still need to get paid. As for the free underlay that may come free but it will be of the lowest quality and you would probably be better off having nothing at all underneath your lovely new carpet. * Shopping around I would always recommend shopping around. You can try asking the shop for the name of the carpet but a lot of the time many big companies give the carpet there own name to stop people from doing this. Another way is to ask to borrow a sample of the carpet so you can try it in your home to see what its like where as in actual fact you will be taking it to other shops to get the best price you can, you may even be able to get a similar carpet but better quality but I wouldn’t count on it. * Buying underlay Thicker does not always mean better and cheap does not always mean less quality. When it comes to buying underlay I would suggest you take your time because a good underlay can mean the difference from a carpet lasting 5 years or 10 years. There are maybe only around 3 – 4 brands of underlay that I would recommend. The first is called Cloud 9 Nimbus, Cirrus and Cumulus this comes in three different thicknesses 7mm – 11mm, highly recommended by me and by the carpet industry. The next is Treadair another highly recommended product that comes 8.6mm – 11. 5mm thick. Last but not least I will mention here is Duralay this is suitable for most room in your home, not recommended for stairs, best suited to bedrooms where there is less traffic. * Thank you Thank you for reading this article and I hope you found it helpfull
